Infectious Diseases
Control and eradication of infectious and communicable diseases is one of GHRC’s focus areas. According to a WHO report1, infectious diseases account for more than 13 million deaths a year - one in two deaths in developing countries, making it the world's biggest killer of children and young adults. Majority of the deaths from infectious diseases occur in developing countries; compounded by malnutrition, inadequate healthcare access, poverty and complex humanitarian emergencies.
However, with the re-emergence of old diseases, resistant strains and bio-terrorism, public health threats from infectious disease still remain a worldwide problem. GHRC, Inc. works with global health professionals and communities in our target countries to address infectious diseases with crosscutting initiatives that include research, training healthcare practitioners and prevention outreach campaigns.
